SAVE THE RHINO!!!

Last weekend I had the priviledge to participate in the Story Moja Hay Festival and right next to my stand was this amazing rhino :) Well not a real one but see for yourself :)

The most beautiful thing that happened in relation to the rhino was the translation children had of it. One said it was a tortoise while the most amazing was this little girl who held her white Cinderella dress high to avoid tripping and ran towards her brother pointing at the rhino shouting at the top of her voice, "NG'OMBE! NG'OMBE! NG'OMBE!" Translation: "A COW! A COW! A COW!" Bless her soul for placing a smile on my face :)))

The image shows smaller images with rhinos that have been killed... *sob* And the Kenyan blankie on it shows the Kenyan support in protecting the rhino.

Click on the links for some FACTS about rhinos and the different existing SPECIES.

Click on the image below for a surprise gift from Saving Rhinos :)

Have a lovely World Rhino Day and find a way to save and protect these lovely RHINOS :)

STEAMPUNK JEWELLERY :)

While looking for accessory inspiration. I came across this video that just got me thinking about how creative one can get by pushing the limits and stretching out from the norm.

The artist responsible is Daniel Proulx who was born in Montreal and spent a considerable time traveling the world before returning to his artistic roots, becoming an independent artist in 2008. He has found great inspiration in the steam era and now makes Steampunk jewelry with metal wire, gemstones, vintage clock parts and other unusual components. He loves creating organic shapes from wire and developing intricate designs with a mechanical/industrial feel.

When Daniel was little he used to daydream about fantastic imaginary worlds. He would draw monsters, invent stories about magical items, or role-play with friends. Now he brings his art to life with stories from a distant parallel Steampunk universe. He uses his creations to share his passion for the world of Steampunk with the rest of us.

MIREMBE COLLECTIONS: FASHION IN THE RAIN :)

Turquoise earrings, orange ring, long earring and bracelets by jewLLAHry

Mirembe is a Luganda name meaning peace. Mirembe Collections (MC) gives one a taste of serenity in fashion with a creative explosion of talent. Mimz Mirembe as I refer to her is the hands, sweat and toil behind this Ugandan powerhouse. Already having featured in Africa Fashion Week New York 2011, this lady is headed in the right fashion direction (hope that is grammatically correct). MC strives to bring you effortless glamour with pieces that are timeless and unique.

Below are some of the pieces she presented during her launch show at Ersam Cafe in Kampala on Friday 2nd, September 2011.

Working with Mimz on accessories for the show was AMAZING despite the distance :) We gats to do it bigger and better sometime soon MIMZ :* xoxo
